Granny Makes Getting Job Announcement on Metro Bus

I'm on the X 2 Bus going across town in DC and a self identified retired grandmother boards the bus and looks to the back where there are quite a few men seated. She proceeds to say loudly, "McDonalds has announced they are hiring a large number of people, I think she said 1000. I heard it on WTOP yesterday. Ya'll need to go get these jobs and start making so money. You never know, you stay there for a while and you could move up. Take this opportunity to get this training" repeat at next three stops.

Not sure if the information is valid, but it excited me to hear. Someone taking untraditional methods to share information that could be life changing. This is the love of community and committment to see others in our communitry move out of poverty, that is needed to break the cycle.

No one responded, but one man as he exited the bus, " I work for myself, but thank you". But I know someone heard it, and I am hopeful that when no one else is watching, they will walk in a MacDonalds and ask for an application.

Thank you unknown grandmother, we need more of your spirit.
