My Dear World 2016 Fairy Tale

Looking back over old posts I came across this March 6th post entitled “Empowerment Theory Revisited: I am deserving.” With self-empowerment on my mind, I found myself thinking about the New Year and all that is to come. As I thought about 2016 I found myself painting a picture that was quite troublesome. With the 24 hour news cycle fresh on mind, I had internalized a vision of the coming year that was likely full of tragedy and uncertainty; continuing economic declines, political unrest, terror everywhere and people more in fear of one another than ever before. Then in a moment I thought back to my March 6th post Empowerment Theory Revisited. In that post I shared my personal revelation that “Empowerment comes from the self-realization the we are deserving and worthy” and that it is in the moment of our internal recognition that because of our very existence on this earth we are deserving and worthy, that self empowerment becomes manifest and our world changes.

Therefore, if I truly believed in my revelation of self-empowerment, how could I allow myself to accept the lens of the world that has been prescribed? While events of terror, natural disasters and many man made tragedies have framed our reality as one of doom and gloom, Empowerment Theory challenges us to ponder the possibility of an alternate reality-becoming manifest. This reality is not one based upon events in the Middle East, the ups and downs of Wall Street or the 2016 US Presidential election; this reality is one that is framed by our individual and collective belief in our ability to empower ourselves to create the world that we deserve and are worthy of inhabiting. A belief that despite recent events, politics and rhetoric we might find ourselves believing in the possibility of our own liberation and empowerment.

Imagine, what would happen if on January 1, 2016 we woke up to a world where instead of majority of us excepting the prescribed reality that the world is dark and grim and will never change; we allowed ourselves to prescribe a vision of the world that is centered around the individual and collective realization that we are all deserving and worthy. We are deserving and worthy of a healthy planet to sustain us, opportunity to provide for our families and ourselves and to navigate daily life free of the constant fear of oppression, discrimination or death. I know, this sounds like the fairy tale fantasy of a do-gooder out of touch with reality. But if we are the source of our conflicts and majority of us desire to live in a world free of persistent conflict, then is it not plausible that indeed one day we might awake to the consciousness that we are all deserving and worthy; and that my liberation does not require your demise and your liberation does not require mine. I know it seems like something written for a galaxy far away, but at least for a moment join me in breathing life, hope and faith into this alternate reality and lets see what we might make manifest.

  1. Hear, hear!!! Learning that we are worthy can be one of the hardest truths for us to accept. There are so many negative messages in the world that are often insidious. Instead of those negative lessons, we should internalize self-love and the knowledge that we are worthy.
